Sheep Shearing Festival in Armenia

A hospitable country of Armenia invites you to attend the “Sheep Shearing” festival, which will be held on June 9, 2018 in Armenia, on the territory of the Syunik Animal Market cattle market, near the settlement Hot, the Tatev community, Syunik region. This year, for the fourth time, the festival “Sheep shear” will be held in Syunik region. The festival is held within the framework of the Tatev Revival program. The first time it was held on May 3, 2014, and a year later – June 06, 2015 in 2016. This year the festival will also be held in 2018. The organizers of the festival are the Agency for Strategic Development and the IDeA Foundation. The main goal of the organizers is the development of tourism in the region, as well as the financial assistance that they receive, selling their own products during the festival. In 2015, more than 5,000 people attended the festival. In addition, as in past festivals, this year the organizers promise to please their guests with various contests, the main one of which is shearing. Also will be organized performances of national dance groups, musicians, singers. Those who wish can learn Armenian dances and play musical instruments. Local artisans will show their skill in how to get a thread from wool, from which carpets are handmade. Fans of Armenian cuisine will not be disappointed either. Special dishes for the guests will be prepared dishes of national Armenian cuisine. In addition, visitors will be able to taste real mulberry vodka. At the festival, guests can purchase Armenian handmade souvenirs, carpets, paintings, clay products and much more. Every year local residents offer their own cooking products: pickles, jams, pastries, homemade vodka and wine. Experienced sheep shearing masters will attend the program from Georgia and Great Britain, who will conduct master classes for all those who wish. In addition, there will be a traditional competition between local masters for high-speed haircuts.
