Description:

• Drive to Garni Temple, a symphony of Armenian architecture. This is the only surviving pagan temple in Armenia. Garni was built in the Hellenistic style in the 1st century by the Armenian king Trdat I and is dedicated to the Sun god Mithras.
• Excursion to the monastery of Geghard (12th – 13th centuries). Geghard is a unique monastery complex, where some of the temples are completely hollowed out inside the rocks. The name “Geghard” literally means “monastery of the spear” is due to the fact that a Christian relic was kept in this place – a spear with which, according to legend, a Roman soldier pierced the crucified Jesus (now stored in the museum of Etchmiadzin).
• Lunch in the village of Garni and demonstration baking of “lavash” – traditional Armenian bread in a tandoor (oven in the ground).
• Visit to the symphony of stones. The object is located near the village of Garni and is a gorge, the rocks of which consist of huge basalt pillars. Their vertical arrangement is very reminiscent of the pipes of an organ, in this regard, the monument received such a name.
