Armenian science is proud of its achievements in the field of astrophysics, which brought her worldwide fame. Thanks to Victor Hambardzumyan- outstanding Armenian Soviet astrophysicist, astronomer, and founder of the school of theoretical astrophysics in the USSR. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR and its president, president of the International Astronomical Union. He is a founder of Byurakansky astrophysical observatory. Due to its scientific achievements Byurakan became a world center for astrophysics in the world. Fundamental studies of Armenian mathematicians in the theory of functions and approximation theory, mechanics in the field of mechanics of deformable solids are well known and are a significant contribution to world science. Studies of Armenian physicists and radio physicists – from cosmic rays to quantum electronics, from deep theoretical research to the grand experiments on new materials to precision instruments – were highly appreciated by the world scientific community and marked by high scientific prizes and awards. Essentially new results have been obtained in the field of mathematical cybernetics and computer science. Yerevan Research Institute of Mathematical Machines (YCRDI) in a short time has become one of the leading centers of the Soviet Union in the development and manufacture of computers and computer systems for special purposes. Many did Armenian scientists in space exploration. Those skilled in the area known theoretical and applied studies of Armenian scientists and engineers: electricians, radio physicists, astrophysicists, engineers and others. In the session devoted to the 50th anniversary of Gagarin’s space flight, which took place April 12, 2011 in the hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Armenia Victor Krivopuskov noted that space exploration in 1961 would not take place without the contribution of representatives of science and technical thought of all the fraternal Soviet republics, and first of all, the Armenian scientific thought.
