Shoghakat church
Shoghakat Church, built in 1694, is located in the historic city of Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The church is designed as a domed hall, preceded by a three-arched portico crowned with a belfry, which gives the structure a distinctive architectural appearance. According to some researchers, the church may have been constructed on the foundations of an earlier religious structure, suggesting that the site had sacred significance long before the present building was erected. Today, Shoghakat Church is considered an important example of 17th-century Armenian ecclesiastical architecture and forms part of the cultural and historical heritage of Etchmiadzin.
